How are Breast Lifts Performed?

To begin each breast lift, our surgeon will make an incision that begins at the areola and goes down vertically and then horizontally under the natural crease of the breast, resembling the shape of an anchor. At this point the excess skin is trimmed and the areola is repositioned. If you have smaller breasts or less severe sagging, then our surgeon may decide to make a simple incision around the areola and removing the excess skin to restore the breasts. What to Expect After Your Breast Lift?

To help reduce swelling and heal the breast, gauze will be placed over the surgical area and a surgical bra is commonly worn. After a few days, a softer bra and lighter bandages can be worn. Strenuous activity should be avoided for a month, but our patients usually return to work within 7 to 10 days. To avoid infection and pain, antibiotics and pain medication can be prescribed at our West Dundee office.
