How are Male Breast Reductions Performed?

Your surgeon will begin this procedure by making a small incision under the areola or under the arm, depending on the patient’s body. Excess skin and glandular tissue will be removed, and Drs. Rosenberg and Lambrushi may recommend liposuction if there is excessive amounts of fat. Small sutures will be used to close the incision at the end of the 2-hour breast reduction. What to Expect After Your Male Breast Reduction?

After your breast reduction, the breasts will be bandaged and a tube may be used in the initial days for any drainage that occurs. Males commonly experience swelling or bruising following their breast reduction, but work can resume in about 1 to 3 days after the procedure.
