A panniculectomy procedure requires at least a 3-4 week recovery time. The wound is large and you will be asked to keep your activity to a minimum. There will most definitely be drains and you will be given instructions on their care. You will also be required to wear an abdominal binder with bulky dressings for the first 3 weeks following the procedure. Until your drains are removed, we will perform your dressing changes for you. Drain removal depends on the output. Surgical staples or sutures are utilized and these will be removed within 10-14 days following surgery.
